Both movies, An Inconvenient Truth and The Day After Tomorrow try to educate the viewers as to how the increase in temperature due to global warming will lead to major destruction of planet earth. Americans as world leaders should take the responsibility and work towards slowing down global warming.  Although it’s a worldwide problem, not many are seriously working towards improvement. There is lack of knowledge, lack of information and lack of motivation. When leaders take initiative, they set examples that others follow religiously, so if American work towards saving planet earth it would be impossible for the rest of the world to ignore the movement.  After watching the two movies and researching the causes and effects of global warming my analysis concluded that, in a way, Americans are the major cause of global warming and Americans can be a major help in slowing it too.  Global warming is an issue of serious concern for the entire human race.  It’s important that being a leader, America should take the necessary steps and guide the rest of the world to follow the right approach to reverse the effect of global warming.  My research materials will include the two movies as well as sources such as books, websites and articles that relate how America, although home to less than 10% of the world’s population, is one of the leading countries in CO2 emissions.  Global warming affects everyone so it is important to be aware of what it is and how to help in solving the crisis.
